Parc Taf Bargoed


Parc Taf Bargoed is the hidden gem of Merthyr Tydfil County Borough. It is situated in the Taff Bargoed Valley between Trelewis, Treharris and Bedlinog.

The former colliery site has been regenerated as a haven for wildlife and a centre for community activities.


Parc Taf Bargoed is a Green Flag Park and has facilities for walkers, cyclists and horse riders and is the home of Aberfan Canoe Club and Parc Taff Bargoed Anglers Club.

The National Botanic Garden of Wales


The National Botanic Garden of Wales opened in May 2000 – making us the first national botanic garden to be created in the new millennium.


In such a short time we are the most visited garden in Wales and have been voted the number 1 ‘Wonder of Wales’, ’Most Romantic Garden’, ‘Best Children’s Garden’ & ‘Best Afternoon Tea’ by the Western Mailhave been voted ‘No 1 Garden to Visit in Wales’ by BBC Gardeners’ World 2010 poll
Cyfartha Castle Park

The park is free to visit, and the 150 acres of parkland mean that you will find that quiet spot should you wish to relax after the excitement of visiting the Cyfartha Splashpad, or need time to digest the wealth of knowledge from Cyfarthfa Castle Museum. 


All the woodland walks and nature rambles are accessible, and will introduce you to the variety of animal, bird and plant species that make Cyfarthfa Park so special.
